Noella Coursaris: One Of Not Many
Noëlla Coursaris Musunka is an international model and the founder of Malaika, a non-profit organisation that offers girls in her native country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, free access to education. Malaika was founded in 2017 and has since developed into a community-driven ecosystem that comprises of an accredited school offering STEM, a community center, a clean water program with the building and refurbishment of 23 wells and an agriculture program. Noella’s vision has had significant impact; Malaika has grown from just a few classrooms to a school of 400 girls, engaging some 35,000 people annually in the village of Kalebuka – where it is located. It is of no surprise then that her advocacy has awarded her recognition on world-class forums. A proud global citizen and mother, Noëlla is the recipient of several awards, to include the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s Centenary Award and an ambassadorship for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Not a stranger to the fashion scene, having modelled for brands and featured in top fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair and Elle, she gives us an outlook of what the future has in store for her and Malaika.
